In The Shadows Of Kings EP

In The Shadows Of Kings EP

When I sat down to create the In The Shadows Of Kings EP, I wasn’t just aiming to make three deep dubstep tracks. I wanted to build three sonic temples—three distinct meditations on power, mystery, and the deeper forces that shape our world. The music I make is a vehicle for introspection, and nothing provides a richer backdrop for exploring the human psyche than that of ancient mythology.

The gods of Egypt—Anubis, Horus, and Rah—were the perfect subjects. They represent fundamental aspects of existence: death and transition, vision and rule, and the all-encompassing energy of life itself. My goal was to translate that immense, ancient power into palpable, physical bassweight.

Anubis: The Descent

The first track, “Anubis,” had to be heavy, but heavy with purpose. Anubis, the guide and guardian of the dead, isn’t about chaos; he’s about ritual and transition. The low-end in this track is designed to feel like the shifting sands of the underworld, the deep, resonating sub-bass acting as a pulse beneath the weight of judgment. This is the sound of looking inward and confronting the primal fears and mysteries within yourself—the psychedelic soundscape is meant to disorient and then re-ground you in the absolute necessity of change.

Horus: The Vision

Moving to “Horus,” I focused on a sense of vigilance and majesty. Horus is the celestial protector, and his track needed a sense of elevated perspective. Here, the percussion is sharp, the textures are layered, and the bass carries an intricate, almost melodic quality. It’s the feeling of ascension engulfs the listener, gaining clarity and the wisdom of. It explores how vision and kingship are two sides of the same coin: true power comes from seeing the world clearly, unclouded by ego.

Rah: The Zenith

Finally, “Rah” is the culmination—the fusion of all energy. As the Sun God, Rah is creation, light, and pure, undeniable force. This track dives into of the depths of the soul, but filtered through a deep dubstep lens. It’s the warmest, most energetic of the three, with bass that seems to radiate outwards. It’s a sonic affirmation, reminding the listener that after the introspection of Anubis and the clarity of Horus, there is only the vast brilliance of the self.

Ultimately, In The Shadows Of Kings was designed to use 140BPM deep dubstep styling not just for the dance floor, but for the mind. It’s an invitation to step into the mythological shadows and realize that the greatest kings and the deepest powers reside within your own consciousness. I hope you find the journey as intense and transformative as I did creating it.
